IoT-type manhole sensor system "SkyManhole"
Water level observation system using LPWA (LoRa) (IoT-type water level gauge)
- SkyManhole monitors water levels and other conditions in sewer pipes at low cost and over a wide area. - It is an IoT sensor system that can be integrated into the underside of manhole covers. - It enables early detection of urban flooding and pinpointing the sources of inflow during rainy weather. 【Features】 ■ Low power consumption and long operating time By utilizing LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) for low power consumption and switching communication frequency according to water levels in the pipe, we have achieved long operating times (approximately 3 years on battery power) by reducing power consumption during normal conditions. ■ Wide range of water level information collection We have demonstrated wireless communication from manhole covers up to about 1 km. By installing relay devices, the transmission distance can be extended to about 3 km, allowing for the collection of water level information over a wide area of approximately 4 km (subject to variations based on site conditions). ■ Low cost and short-term installation Since it does not require power supply work or specialized manhole covers, it can be implemented at low cost and in a short period of time. Additionally, by utilizing frequency bands that do not require a license, there are no communication fees, which reduces running costs. ■ Security High security is ensured through proprietary transmission specifications that do not use the internet and data encryption, among other measures.
